His & Her's Going Out Look

You may find this as a surprise but for a twenty-three year old I don't love going out all that much but boy do I love to get dressed for it! I don't know if I got my fill of going out growing up in a college town or  if I'm just more content now with Netflix and chilling with the dog, & Spencer for a night in. On the rare occasion we do go out on the weekend but have majorly scaled back since we want to save up for a house!

In the fall it's so hard to get the right balance of sleeves and jeans but still looking cute and not wanting to let go of the beautiful summer months we just enjoyed. We all know it's cold outside and then burning hot inside a bar, not a fun struggle. That is why I absolutely adore this Free People scoop back seamless top! I own it in multiple colors cause it is the perfect top for fall and winter going out. They made it into a bodysuit this year but still perfect for this look and available for only $58, buy here. My dark wash skinnies are also from Free People still available for $78, buy here. Now let me apologize in advance for how much you are going to see these Stuart Weitzman Elevated over the knee boot in my blog this coming winter. I am going to live in these boots they are so comfortable and were the most gracious gift from my boss. They were sold out during the Nordstrom Anniversary sale but recently became available again through Nordstrom, link here.

I wanted to share a men's going out look too because it's something I've never done before on Carlita's Closet! I knew we were good together when I found out he likes to dress up as much as I do. In this post his shirt is 7 Diamonds, burgundy pants Bonobos, and the boots are Magnanni. The styles were all purchased at Nordstrom or Nordstrom Rack, but are all sold out. Will find links to like items this week!

Lazy Daze

It's just one of those mornings you wake up and nothing is urging you to get out of bed in a hurry. Slowly sipping on my coffee I am looking forward to the long day ahead of me by letting go of all the stress I've been through the last weekend. Getting towards the end of our term in school the projects and exams seem to be piling up but I have to keep reminding myself worrying does nothing.

When dealing with stress of school, work, and social lives you have to remember to leave time for yourself. And trust me I know everyone has those days where you feel like you have absolutely no extra time to even take a deep breath. Today I am writing about the importance of making time for yourself! With the change of seasons it's an easy time to get sick if you aren't taking care of your body either, and ain't nobody got time for that.

So here is some of my advice for making time for yourself so that you are feeling your best through the stressful, sickness filled fall before the holiday season hits. First, even on these most stressful days with getting school work done if you are feeling super fatigued take a nap! When your body is aching for rest you must listen to it, forcing yourself to stay up with caffeine or Adderall will just hurt your immune system in the long run and make you feel worse. Next is your body needs to stay hydrated during this dry season, try to stick to one soft drink a day and substitute more of these sugar filled drinks with water. Drinking more water than you think you need will help keep your body ready to fight of illness.

If you don't already make time to work out or have at least some additional daily physical activity in your life you need to start making time now. This will help keep your immune system strong and keep you happier through these stressful times of college. Next time you're frustrated with a paper and stuck with where to go with it, go for a run and clear your mind. The biggest excuse for not working out is not having enough time but trust me you'll find if you make time for these things to treat yourself better your body will surely notice. You'll often find yourself more energized and focused after working out. Another suggestion is to take a bath at least once a week and allow your body to sweat out all of the toxins ingested the past weekend. If you don't have access to a bath you can still use bath bombs in a really hot shower to get the soothing effects in the aroma.

So remember when you are stressing the most and feel like there is no time, take a break, stop what you're doing, and make time for yourself to relax so that you can be at your full potential.

Even my pup Bruiser wanted to be lazy today.

To Infinity And Beyond

A fall trend that I don't see going anywhere for seasons to come is the infinity scarf. It's a simple, comfortable, stylish piece that can be added to almost any fall outfit. Not only is it practical for the freezing bitterness of the winter season to come but it's adorable!

My particular taste prefers the giant, knitted infinity scarf that can feel like a soft pillow sitting around your neck all day. Although printed and skinnier infinity scarfs can be stylish and a bit more decorative they just don't have the same comfort level. It took me a while to find the perfect knit scarf but finally last fall at Connections, a local boutique, I found the perfect one and it was affordable. It was basically my trusty side kick all winter, accompanying me from late nights with friends to early mornings walking to class. I love this scarf so much that in the spring during one of Connections sales I bought another one in a different color (one of my better life decisions).

I feel like I can go anywhere with this scarf.

Green & Purp

Friday is always a great day, even though the fog has barely lifted from our groggy Pennsylvania morning, I can feel the good energy in the air. As the weekend approaches and only a few classes are left to attend the weekend mode is slowly setting in. Time to have fun, enjoy being young, and relax because I deserve it after this long week.

I wanted to be fall casual today as autumn is finally setting in. It felt like the perfect wind chilled day for a sweater skirt, from Urban Renewal. I paired this with a plaid green v-neck tee, textured tights, and my Pink & Pepper boots. To tie the look together I threw on my velvet scarf, an upcoming trend for the 2013 holiday season. Also I tried a new hybrid hairstyle of a french braid bun, let me know what you all think about it!

Have an amazing weekend! Live it up to the fullest!

Equinox Enticing

Happy Fall Equinox everyone! I don't enjoy the cold very much but I do love sweater weather, there isn't a more comfortable time of the year. This season has a way of warming people's souls with it's beautiful transformation of colors and excitement of the joyous holidays that will be coming up shortly. This is also a transitional time for everyone's wardrobes.

Living in Central Pennsylvania we are blessed with the challenge of dressing for low 50 degree mornings that lead into 70 degree sizzling afternoons that disappear with the sunset. This makes it extremely difficult to get dressed in the morning (or to find the motivation to get out of bed). My first suggestion is get comfortable with layers, it can be a trendy way to prepare yourself for all weather situations throughout the day. I also keep a back-up outfit in my car, a mixture of something cute but comfy like yogas, a graphic tank and plaid button up.

Today I kept it simple in one of my favorite sweaters, a pair of green Hudsons, my coveted Frye boots, and my new favorite pair of socks. My jewelry accented  my Ogre-the-top-blue nails (from the OPI Shrek collection). Everyone should have a motivational piece of jewelry that makes them feel empowered. Be true to yourself, is a bangle from Ettika that I absolutely adore.

And always remember the best accessory a girl can wear is a smile.

Stepping Outside Your Comfort Zone

Brown and black is a combination I often found myself debating over whether or not to mix the two and when the mixture looks appropriate. As a girl who usually lives in bright, bold colors and patterns it's difficult for me to piece together an entirely neutral outfit. So today I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone into something a bit more modest.

I chose one of my favorite fall time dresses, a French Connection lace a-line. I can already tell that this pair of boots is going to be a go-to option for me this season, they're so comfortable and easy to style! I thought the fun textured tights underneath the dress really added some dimension to the look. To pull it all together with some more neutrals but in a fun printed scarf I felt a little more comfortable in this ensemble.

Little Details Mean The Most

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! I know I enjoyed mine and wasn't ready to get back to the daily grind quite yet. Oh well, so that's the way the cookie crumbles and you must make the most of the week to truly reward yourself this coming weekend!

Take time to appreciate the little things in life that don't always catch your eye. How beautiful the sky looks today or how kind it was of that stranger to hold the door open for you this morning. If you make an extra moment to see the beauty in the details you will be able to live a more positive way of life.

This is also true with observing others outfits and when styling your own. When you throw that extra little flare you'll find a bouncier hop in your step throughout the day, just that little something to perk you up. Today I chose to mix some of my favorite patterns and textures to add some detail. The wool sweater vest kept me warm in the chilly PA fall while I could still wear my backless long sleeve dress with some nice brown leather boots. The pop of the bucket studded bag with my long turquoise statement necklace really tie in the feel of the whole outfit.

I want to hear what you guys are doing to spice up your daily lives! Whether it's in your outfit or something kind you did today for someone.
