Still Feels Like The Arctic

Well just after we enjoyed a weekend of 50 degree weather it is back to being real feel negative degrees in Central PA. It's just totally not fair to our bodies, to go from one extreme to the other is so confusing. Not to mention my body is craving vitamin D like no other, as the sun makes very rare appearances lately.

Another day to bundle up in many layers and wait for spring to arrive. This has been one of the longest winters I've ever experienced and it's definitely pushed me towards moving to a warmer location. But hey hey it's Friday so there's one thing to be happy about! Time to get ready for a wild weekend before we buckle down for a finals week before spring break begins!

ATTENTION: LOOKING FOR A GRAPHIC DESIGNER

I am desperately trying to re-design my logo for the blog and am finding out just how Photoshop illiterate I am. This has been a frustrating process so I am turning to you my readers for help, if anyone is artistically inclined or into graphic design I would greatly appreciate your help in creating my new logo. Below is a photograph of a (poor) drawing I did of the idea I have for my logo. It's very simple a black hanger with maybe some neon green cursive lettering in the bottom of the hanger that says Carlita's Closet.

Please email me at desousacarlita@gmail.com if you're interested in helping create my new logo! There will be some compensation for this work!!

When You're Feeling Lonely

We all have those days where you just feel a little disconnected and lost from the world, not that this is always a bad thing but sometimes it can put you into a funk. A day where you can't seem to get over the little things that went wrong that morning and feel like you should just crawl back into bed. However, you can't so you might as well make the best of this off day & know that tomorrow holds new opportunities.

Sometimes it's also necessary to find comfort in solitude and know that if you're okay being alone than you will be able to get through a lot. If I end up finding myself in one of these funks I just remind myself, that it is okay to be alone and to enjoy spending time with your dog or cat but it's also very important to find a balance between your family and friends. They will always be able to help you and give you some words of encouragement at the time you need it most, and don't ever forget that.

Sold My Soul

I would do just about anything to be able to go to all the concerts and music festivals a year that I desire. Not that I don't already make that attempt but this last year I was exposed to so many of these wonderful experiences and people. It's also the first time as an adult I have been able to make that decision where I will be going and what I will be spending my money on.

Plus half the fun of going to a show or festival is getting dressed for it! I've mentioned this in prior posts but there is truly a judge free atmosphere at these places and it contributes to how comfortable you feel there. People walk around Bonnaroo naked and it's completely fine. Below are some of my favorite outfits for festival wear or shows:

Simple Bonnaroo look from last year.

Can't wait to wear my far out fringe kimono at Ultra

Any Free People FP ONE Battenburg Bralette is the perfect top to any festival outfit.

Lace trimmed denim and comfy shoes are a must.

More rave inspired festival look, wore this to Pretty Lights back in November

Bright colors and whatever else you want

My butterfly inspired look. DIY Tutu tutorial here

A headdress is always acceptable.

Collected from Pinterest and my own photos of festival fun I hope you are inspired for any up coming events you are going to. I am so excited I am going to be flying down to Florida at the end of March for Ultra Music Festival and that should be a solo adventure of a lifetime. Comment below and let me know what your spring break/summer plans are so far!

Confidence is Key

As I am preparing myself for some of the biggest interviews of my life coming up trying to land the dream retail internship this summer I find butterflies in my stomach. This can be a nerve breaking time as graduation is ever looming on the horizon in September but honestly I just need to make the best of it and remember how life will continue after college.

I've been reading a lot about how to make the most positive first impressions when doing your resume, filling out applications, and talking to interviewers. Collectively I've gathered that the most important thing to remember during each step of a nerve breaking process is to remain confident! No matter what situation you are in if you can keep your cool and answer questions with honest proof of why you deserve or are qualified for the position you will stick out. Confidence also delivers to your body language, keep good posture during your interview, a smile is a necessity, and give a firm hand shake at the beginning and end.

I will be posting some interview outfits in the next few weeks but until then I will show you an everyday look that helps me feel confident.

Never Ending Winter Wonderland

Well it's official Pennsylvania is the new Alaska. We have received about 3 more inches of snowfall this year than Anchorage, Alaska and boy let me tell you I never signed up for this. It has been a winter filled with multiple layers, practical boots, and too many days I didn't want to get out of bed.

I've often said in the last couple weeks it feels as though we live in a snow globe here in Happy Valley. Oh well time to embrace the continuation of this long winter while awaiting springs arrival. Gives you one more time to wear your favorite fair isle sweater or another day to cuddle up by a fire with some hot chocolate. Although we're experiencing a little heat wave this weekend., (oooh high 40's), and I know it will not last forever I am hopeful that spring will arrive.

Easy & Effortless

I have been faced with juggling more than I ever have before lately and it's hard to still spend time on myself. With the demands of coming to the end of my college career, working two part time jobs, and still trying to be a real person among my friends it has been a lot to deal with. However, I just keep reminding myself that these sleepless nights preparing for tests and interviews for internships are just going to help me get to the place I want to be someday.

I went for an easy get up today because I've been having less motivation to get ready in the morning when there's three feet of snow piled up outside. It's important to have an easy go-to get ready routine that can cut your normal getting ready time in half (if you like to take an hour like I do normally).

Clear Your Mind

Sometimes the hustle and bustle of the day to day routine we find ourselves in it can keep us from being able to find our groundings and stay true to what really matters. Continually I must remind myself to not stress and or get upset over little things that are out of my control, it's so unnecessary and doesn't help you get anywhere that day. It's often hard to just clear your mind of all the running thoughts but it helps you re-gain awareness of the things around you and to not fret over the little things.

A great way to clear your mind of thoughts is to participate in yoga. Whether you have time to go to a class at a local studio or if you just want to watch some Youtube videos and give it a try on your own time at home. Yoga can be a lot more difficult that people think if you've never tried it before. It also helps you get an overall balance in your life by just slowing things down for that little bit of time you take out of your busy day.

One of my favorite brands for yoga wear is Spiritual Gangster. Both tops I'm pictured in above are from @Spiritualgangster.

Today I am going to share some of my favorite jewelry stores that are a little under the radar. I want to share some of these wonderful businesses because adding that extra piece to your look can really help you show a little bit more of who you are in each outfit. I find it so boring when I forget to put on my rings, necklace, and bracelet combinations in the morning!

This piece is the Coastal Charm Necklace $38.

This Goes To All The Single Ladies Out There!

Well Happy Valentine's day, time for our instagram, twitter, and Facebook newsfeeds to be bombarded with displays of affection on this wonderful holiday. However, for those of us who don't have anyone to shower us with Tiffany jewelry this year, (which I quite frankly think is ugly) it's time for most of us to eat our own body weight in mini cupcakes.

As a single girl on Valentine's day I think a couple things are important to do in order to keep your sanity during this one day of what can feel like extreme loneliness:

First off remember that you are NOT alone! There are many singles enjoying Valentine's day this year they just might not be as prominent as the couples you see everywhere. It takes more confidence to walk into a room alone today than it does with a date.

Secondly, just own it being single has a lot of perks and I feel as though these get totally pushed under the rug on Vday. For example always being able to pick what you want to watch on TV, in a relationship that is something that almost always has to be compromised over. Who needs a boyfriend when you can watch the Bachelor all you want?

My last bit of advice for Valentine's day if you're a single lady out there go ahead and flaunt what you've got today. Dressing up for yourself today will help give you the confidence you need to not want to kill your girlfriends who have "the best boyfriend in the world" and will also help you stand out in a crowd. Who knows your special someone could be playing in a band at your favorite bar tonight or the barista at Starbucks.
