DIY Tank Top Ideas

Have some old t-shirts you don't wear anymore? Time to up-cycle and throw some new pieces into your spring closet! I will show you some step by step tutorials of three different kind of tanks you can make out of old t-shirts.

DIY Racerback Tank
1. Cut out neck & sleeves of shirt.
2. Then cut the bottom off the shirt & cut in half for step 4.
3. Take the two straps and pull them together from the back.
4. Then use the piece of fabric from the bottom of the shirt to twist around the straps you're holding together.
5. To finish the tank tie this at the top of the straps, and you have a racerback tank.

DIY Tie Front Tank
1. Start by cutting the sleeves and neck out of shirt.
2. You can then cut the crop to your desired length, but remember you need to leave room for the tie.
3. Fold the shirt in half and cut the back straight across while making a triangle shape in the front.
4. Unfold the shirt and cut up the middle of the triangle you created.
5. Then you're done all you need to do is tie it!

DIY Open Side Tank
1. You may cut the sleeves off and neck line to your desired style.
2. After that you cut out both side of the shirt completely. (May want to fold so that it is symmetrical)
3. Then cut the bottom straight to your desired crop but angle out on the sides for the ties.
4. Then you can connect both halves with the angles of fabric you created in the last step.

Plenty of inspiration from Pinterest!

Save The Rave

I'm very excited for the this post about the amazing Thursday night I enjoyed. I went to see Bassnectar  at a local venue called the Bryce Jordan Center. With the popularity of EDM music exploding in the last couple years so has the inspiration for rave outfits and attire. I find Rave and Festival attire to be some of the most fascinating, beautiful creations of displaying someones personality and love of the music through their outfit.

For Bassnectar Thursday night I decided to channel my inner spirit animal, the butterfly. It's awesome to be able to go somewhere you know that you will not be judged for being in a Halloween costume when it's still a few weeks away. My DIY post from Wednesday is the base of my outfit, a tutu. I chose the blue and pink colors because they compliment my wings, a $3 purchase from Walmart. My waterfall tie dye crop top is from Nasty Gal. My leggings are from Black Milk Clothing. To be comfortable while dancing my ass off I'm wearing my trusty TOMS. I got these bright, fun, colorful acrylic nails from ULTA, a House of Holland Halloween collection pack. I had to file them down to a comfortable level but they add that perfect extra bit of oomph to my outfit tonight.

Theses photos were taken from my iPhone.

DIY Tutu Tutorial

With it being so close to Halloween I figured this would be a very appropriate post. A tutu is an easy, cheap DIY project that can be a base to almost any Halloween costume. They've become increasingly more popular for festival outfits too. Hopefully my easy steps can help you make your very own tutu!

Materials:
Scissors
Elastic Ribbon
Tulle Ribbon (~6 inches in width)

How To:
Cut the elastic ribbon to be big enough to tie into a bow when around your waist.

Then cut the tulle into strips about 18-24 inches long.

To attach the tulle to the elastic all you have to do is fold it in half. Then keeping the elastic in the middle, pull the tulle through the loop created by the fold. Pull until secure.

Periodically, I would try on the tutu pulling it around your waist to see where you will be tying it & to see if you are putting the strips of tulle close enough together to get the full tutu look.

Suggestion: If you have a sparkle tulle ribbon leave areas to attach those pieces last, unless you wanna be Ke$ha.

Bonnaroovian Style

In the last couple years festival fashion is a category that has exploded into the mainstream industry. With Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Camp Bisco and many more in the United States alone this lifestyle has also created its own line of fashion.

This summer I was blessed to have my first festival experience going to Bonnaroo in Manchester, Tennessee. Bonnaroo is like no other place I've ever been to listening to all genres of music from mid-day to the wee morning hours. One place where no one will judge you for how you're acting or what you are wearing. It's four days out of the year you can truly display your uniqueness through what you wear, the people you meet, and the memories you create.

Here are some of the few photos I collected at Bonnaroo this year & some of the outfits I put together.

#1 Rule: Radiate Positivity.

The living spaces

Suggestion: Pack more than enough H2O and food.

Basically lived in my Minnetonka Fringe Bootie moccasins.

Awesome amiga Emily.

Pack a light sweater for the night time shows, it does cool down.

One of the only places it's more than acceptable to wear a headdress.

Gotta rep some DIY projects for the festival attire.
This t-shirt was from when my brother went to Bonnaroo 10 years before I did.
It just so happen that this year the dates were exactly the same as they were in
2003 except the festival is a day longer now.

Buddha and I at Nas.

The Free People crop bralette was perfect for the festival.

Wearing a bathing suit is nice during the hot afternoons to cool off.

Most of all enjoy the views.
